ASME Standards Online,August 9, 2011 news, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has updated the restriction of phthalates in toys (phthalates) content required to meet the United States, Canada and the EU member states and 30 countries restrictions on phthalates. The move will keep India from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines proposed, according to the guidelines state that children's toys and childcare articles in the various types of prohibited content of phthalates shall not exceed 0.1% Prior to this, India has provided the standard phthalates in toys shall not exceed 0.1% of the total; but the requirement that the sum of three types of phthalates, including the phthalate H (DEHP), capric phthalate esters (DDP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or isononyl phthalate ester (DINP, isodecyl phthalate ester (DIDP) and n-octyl phthalate (DNOP), and not to each of not more than 0.1%. Toy Association of India held in New Delhi in July, the 5th International Toy Expo, while India has decided it is following the U.S. Toy Industry Association (TIA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards discussed in this exposition of the decision. Toy Industry Association, Vice President of Technology Alan Kaufman has worked with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Dr. Vijay Malik talking about the provisions of phthalates in India, said this initiative will help to establish worldwide standards for toy safety. Alan Kaufman also pointed out that India amended the requirement to limit phthalates, toy safety means that India's efforts a step forward in the hope that the restrictions on phthalates, toy companies can develop a more safe products,ASME Standards and more smoothly out of the country to open up new markets.
